As promised, here are more photos. Some of the
people in the groups shots are Gene Walker, Jim
Marzolf, Jerry Oestreich, Gary Marshik and
myself all 294s of Dog Trick.
I departed Trabzon on the 28th of
January1966 with a scheduled stop at Samsun.
Just as the tires touched the concrete, one of
them exploded throwing chunks of rubber against
my window. After swerving a few times, the pilot
brought the aircraft to a safe stop. It turns
out that we had hit a loose piece of concrete.
We had to spend the night in temp quarters until
a new tire and wheel could be driven up from
Ankara. I managed to grab a few shots of the
Samsun antenna field (attached) as we were
leaving.
When we landed in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, it was
in the middle of a heavy storm and weren't
allowed to leave the airplane. I did manage to
grab a few shots of the terminal.

place? I spent 15 interesting months there
as an electronics intercept operator. Most
of my photos are in 35mm format, but I have
several b&w shots of Trab and vicinity
including the Sumelas monastery if you would
like to see them?
